Specialty:Diplomate, Applied Kinesiology; comprehensive holistic care including TMJ and chronic fatigue Dr. Dean Raffelock's holistic focus utilizes full-body neurostructural balance along with precise metabolic and dietary programs to help his patients get healthy and stay that way. "The biggest complaint you hear about chiropractic is that adjustments don't hold," he says. "One of my goals is to get to the root of why structure isn't holding. Problems in the cranium, jaw and feet or allergies are often the hidden cause."
"I don't look at an isolated symptom in the body and treat only that. I look at the body as a holistic model, each system affecting the other. For example, there might be several reasons that a person experiences lower back pain. Is it weak muscles, spinal malalignment, low adrenals, a mineral problem, foot probation? It takes a little bit of sleuth work to discover the answer. Most people who experience the kind of work we do are excited about making lifestyle changes that will serve their health in the years to come. Even though my number one goal is getting people healthy, I encourage patients to take personal responsibility for their health. Too much of our culture has the idea that you get sick, you go to a doctor and the doctor makes you well again. That is only a partial truth. Patients and doctors need to work together towards optimal health," he says.
Boulder has a wealth of fine holistic practitioners, and it is my pleasure to work in cooperation with many of them who share in the holistic philosophy, including chiropractors, medical doctors, dentists, acupuncturists, Rolfers, massage therapists and psychological counselors. I want to do whatever it takes to get resolve and results for my patients," says Dr. Raffelock.
Applied kinesiology, when correlated with postural analysis, X-rays, blood tests and other forms of sophisticated measuring, "gives me as much grounded information as is possible," he says. Applied kinesiology is the study of functional neurology. As a Diplomate of the International Board of Applied Kinesiology, a distinction held by fewer than 80 chiropractors in the world, Dr. Raffelock has spent thousands of hours in post-doctoral studies in the areas of nutrition, acupuncture, meridian therapy, complex musculoskeletal rehabilitative problems, lMJ balancing, nerve sensor manipulation, orthotics and detailed biochemical therapies. In his work he chooses from an array of treatments that includes homeopathics, Western and Chinese herbs, and a full line of high quality supplements.
