As a female in a male profession, Dr. Lori Ann Kemmet believes she is in tune with her patients' needs. "I listen to my patients to learn how they want to be treated, to understand their unique dental history and to know what to do," she says.
Her treatment is based upon prevention and educating her patients. Spending time in my office can be beneficial only if you know why it's necessary and if you learn how to take care of your mouth," she explains. One of 12 dentists at an Air Force clinic in North Dakota for the three years following her graduation from dental school, Dr. Kemmet was the only female. "I had the opportunity to treat all of the children," she recalls, "and children are an important part of my practice." She also received training in her additional specialities of oral surgery, endodontics (root canals), prosthodontics (crown and bridge work) and periodontics (gum tissues). And her education continues. "My education, not just my patients' is important. I can't do one without the other. I update my continuing education all year long, especially in the area of cosmetics. I love making smiles prettier. Many of our patients have used our at-home bleaching method, and they are all very happy with their whiter, brighter smiles."
An avid runner, mountain biker, rollerblader, skier and figure skater, Dr. Kemmet is a volunteer teacher for the Winter Park Disabled Ski Program.
Dr. Kemmet relies on the "conservative" approach to dentistry she learned in the Air Force, so her state-of-the-art office meets the highest standards for sterilization procedures. She uses mercury-free fillings. "My goal," she says, "is to give you the best dental visit-and treatment -you've ever had."
