For clients with injuries from accidents, his work also relieves both chronic and acute pain, including headaches, TMJ and shoulder and back injuries. David networks with other health care profesionals to ensure the maximum benefit for his clients. His work also incorporates cranial-sacral therapy, alot of humor and Hanna somatics, a system of relieving muscle contraction that eliminates pain and recovers flexibility. He has been a staff member with the St. John Institute of Neuromuscular Therapy since 1987.
Married to world class runner Priscilla Welch, David was a coach with the 1984 British Olympic team and continues to coach elite and developing athletes. Poor posture, injury and other improper biomechanics are sources of pain for many people. David B. Schwartz first became interested in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy and other bodywork because of his own injuries. Now he uses his skills to provide relief from whiplash, repetitive use injuries, TMJ dysfunction and other problems which result in postral and biomechanical distortions and chronic pain.
Pain can be a limiting factor but for many people it doesn't have to be. Recovery from a state of acute or chronic pain can be achieved by removing spasms, hypercontractions and trigger points from affected tissues while restoring proper biomechanics and posture. Later, flexibility, strength and endurance can be regained and even increased.
David is a graduate of the Boulder School of Massage Therapy and is certified in the St. John method of NeuromuscularTherapy. He has also been trained in myofascial release techniques as well as cranial-sacral therapy and is certified by the National Certification Board forTherapeutic Massage and bodywork. He has also been involved in strength training and cardiovascular conditioning for the last 12 years.

I take a straightforward "hands on" and compassionate approach, combined with a comprehensive understanding of the nature of muscular pain. My nine years of experience mean you'll receive highly specific and effective massage therapy techniques, applied carefully.
I offer postural evaluation and movement education so you understand your body and get well faster. You can get your car fixed or your house built for you, but when it comes to your body, you are your own best expert. Unfortunately, we're not taught the body awareness that leads to ideal alignment, stability, power and grace. I enjoy filling this void. Together we explore what it feels like to move well, giving you an internal "owners manual" for health that you can access for a lifetime.
By combining Neuromuscular Massage Therapy with personalized home exercise programs, I can successfully treat soft tissue problems such as whiplash, headaches, neck, back, hip and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel and TMJ syndrome, and athletic injuries. I enjoy variety, working with people of all ages and athletes of all abilities. I continue to study and teach as a member of the St. John NMT staff.
