TARA: Tools for Awakening Resources and Awareness, is a training program for therapists and students of healing. Dedicated to ending the lineage of trauma in all its forms, TARA focuses on specific modalities which have demonstrated success.
- Jin Shin Tara is a hands-on approach to energetic reorganization. Easily accessible and immediately effective, Jin Shin Tara provides substantial calming relief from the
symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
- Trainings in Expressive Arts Therapies are offered in ongoing groups and seminar formats. The vitality of the arts (writing, movement, visual and performing arts) allows the energies evoked by trauma to be dispersed and replaced by a crucial healing component: joy.
- TARA trainings include the use of language in
recovery dialogues aimed at regaining what
trauma appears to have stolen.
- All trainings in the TARA programs are primarily
experiential.
The TARA trainings have been created and developed by
Stephanie Mines, Ph.D., author of SEXUAL ABUSE/SACRED
WOUND: Transforming Deep Trauma (Station Hill Press,
1996). Dr. Mines' doctoral research in the application of
holistic forms of therapy for people with physical disabilities
is a ground-breaking study in multi-modality treatment for
trauma survivors.
For twenty years, Dr. Mines has been exploring the integra
tion of energetic reorganization, Expressive Arts therapies
and intentional dialogues in the treatment of sexual abuse.
Her most recent book is the fruit of this work.
A poet and choreographer, she is also the author of numerous other books and articles and has taught these
innovative interventions locally and nationally for over ten years.
TARA is housed in an expansive, light-filled studio in Eldorado Springs, Colorado-just fifteen minutes from the heart of Boulder and in easy reach from Longmont, Louisville and the metro-Denver area. Eldorado Springs provides the essential natural support of awe-inspiring mountains and refreshing breezes that carry the aromas of wild plum, hawthorns, pine and rose-all the serenity necessary to heal from trauma.
Classes are ongoing, though introductory classes are offered on a semester-based schedule. To receive the most recent catalogue, or for more information contact:
